About Waldstock

The Waldstock Festival in Pegnitz is one of Bavaria's largest free open-air festivals. Since 1994, Waldstock e.V. has organized the free open-air event on Pegnitz's Schloßberg – a family-friendly, multi-day festival with free admission and free camping. Friday evening is traditionally dedicated to folk, singer-songwriters, jazz, and world-pop, while Saturday, the main day, offers everything the indie, rock, and alternative scene has to offer, from regional acts to international newcomers. Getting There

Festival meadow on Schloßberg, Leibnizweg 4, 91257 Pegnitz. By train: Pegnitz station on the Nuremberg–Bayreuth line, from there on foot or by short shuttle. By car: A9 (Berlin–Munich) exit Pegnitz.

Admission & Camping

Admission is free. Camping is free. The festival is financed through donations, funding, and the sale of food and drinks on site.

Free and Outdoors Since 1994

Since 1994, Waldstock e.V. has organized its wonderful, free open-air festival on Pegnitz's Schloßberg. "Free and Outdoors" is the motto: free admission, free camping, family-friendly – a festival that thrives on idealism, volunteer work, and a love for music. It is supported by, among others, the Federal Cultural Foundation (BKM), ByteFM, and the vfm group.

The Festival Meadow on Schloßberg

The festival takes place on the festival meadow on Schloßberg (Leibnizweg 4, 91257 Pegnitz) – an idyllic stage landscape surrounded by forest on the outskirts of the Upper Franconian town of Pegnitz. The natural setting, the relaxed atmosphere, and the absence of commercial marketing contribute to Waldstock's special charm.
