About Stadtfest Waldbröl

When the market town of Waldbröl transforms its market square and Hochstraße into a festival mile at the end of May, the largest Volksfest (popular festival) in the Oberbergischer Kreis begins. For four days, rides, stalls, live music, and a Sunday with open shops attract tens of thousands of visitors from all over the Bergisches Land to the city center. The Waldbröl City Festival is more than just a Kirmes (fair); it's the annual shared experience of a region where people still know each other.

Four Days of Festival Mile from the Market Square to Oststraße

Every year at the end of May, the Waldbröl City Festival transforms the entire city center of the market town into a continuous festival mile. From the Marktplatz (market square) via the Hochstraße to the Oststraße, attraction follows attraction: Ferris wheel, dodgems, haunted house, magic carpet, breakdance, sled ride, giant swing, carousel — interspersed with food stalls, shooting galleries, and ball toss games. The festival is organized by the municipal subsidiary Wir für Waldbröl GmbH, which also organizes the Waldbröl Christmas Market.

Volksfest with Sunday Opening Hours

The City Festival is a mix of Volksfest, neighborhood festival, and Sunday with open shops. On Sunday, retailers open their stores from 1 p.m., which additionally draws visitors from Reichshof, Morsbach, Nümbrecht, Wiehl, Eckenhagen, and Ruppichteroth into the city. On Monday, the traditional Frühschoppen (morning pint) from 11 a.m. ushers in the last day of the festival.

Mayor Larissa Weber Opens

The City Festival is traditionally opened on Friday evening at 6 p.m. by Mayor Larissa Weber on the market square, together with the organizers. The festival service of the Evangelische Allianz Waldbröl takes place on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. — fittingly, right by the dodgems on the market square, a charming peculiarity of this city festival.

Waldbröl — Market Town in the Oberbergisches

Waldbröl is the southernmost town in the Oberbergischer Kreis, located between Bergisches Land and Westerwald, at the intersection of the B256 federal road and the A4 motorway (Reichshof-Eckenhagen). With just under 20,000 inhabitants, it is a typical Bergisch market town: compact, identity-conscious, with a lively club scene. The City Festival is the highlight of a rich year of events, ranging from Schützenfeste (marksmen's festivals) in the districts to the Christmas Market in December.

Tradition with a Modern Touch

What distinguishes the Waldbröl City Festival is the successful combination of classic fair tradition and urban city festival atmosphere. Families with children find activities here for four days, teenagers meet in the evenings at the rides, and the older generation sits at the festival tables with bratwurst and beer — the mix has been working for decades.

Stadtfest Waldbröl — edition 2026

From May 29 to June 1, 2026, Waldbröl's city center will transform into the largest festival mile in the Oberbergischer Kreis. Four days of program with an opening by Mayor Larissa Weber, rides from Breakdance to the Ferris wheel, a city festival church service on Sunday, and Frühschoppen on Monday.

The 2026 edition of the Waldbröl City Festival follows the classic four-day rhythm that makes it the largest Volksfest in the Oberbergischer Kreis. From Friday, May 29 to Monday, June 1, 2026, the entire city center from the market square via Hochstraße to Oststraße will become a festival mile.

At the rides, you can expect, among others, Breakdance, Sled Ride, Ferris Wheel, Haunted House, Magic Carpet, Carousel, Dodgems, and a giant swing.
