30 Years Langenweißbach — A Community Identity is Celebrated

Thirty years ago, in 1996, the three villages of Langenbach, Weißbach, and Grünau merged to form the unified municipality of Langenweißbach. This was part of the municipal reform in the 1990s in Saxony, which consolidated many small villages into economically viable unified municipalities. Three villages became one municipality with around 2,500 inhabitants, its own administration, a shared identity — and with the Waldbad in Langenbach as one of its most important communal highlights.

May 14–17, 2026 — Waldbad-Fest and Season Opening

The Waldbad-Fest in the Langenbach district marks the start of the anniversary celebrations. From Thursday, May 14 (Ascension Day), to Sunday, May 17, 2026, a four-day festive weekend will take place — with a traditional village festival character, stage program, live music, food and drinks from regional providers, games, and activities for children and families. Highlight: the ceremonial reopening of the Waldbad season on May 16 at 10 a.m.

The Waldbad — A Communal Gem

The Waldbad Langenbach is a traditional natural swimming pool with a long history — visited by many generations of Langenbach children, shaped by the changing times, repeatedly rebuilt, upgraded, and saved. Today, it is a focal point of the community and part of its identity. The season traditionally opens in May — in 2026, this opening coincides with the community anniversary, which particularly emphasizes the festive character.

Further Festivities in Grünau and Weißbach

The 2026 anniversary celebration is not limited to Langenbach — it moves through all three districts. On June 19, festivities will take place in Grünau, and on June 20/21 in Weißbach. This makes the idea of the unified municipality tangible: not a single large festival at the administrative seat, but three decentralized festivals that preserve the individual identity of the districts while forming a whole.

Saxony, Zwickau District, and Langenweißbach

Langenweißbach is located in the Zwickau district, in western Saxony, at the foothills of the Ore Mountains. With its wooded landscape, the Waldbad, and several hiking trails, the municipality is a popular local recreation area. The combination of rural character, active club life, and municipal independence makes it a typical example of the Saxon municipal landscape after reunification — small units that cherish their traditions while remaining future-proof.
