VulkanBike Eifel-Marathon Daun

Over the years, the VulkanBike Eifel-Marathon has developed into one of the most important mountain bike marathon events in West Germany. The combination of spectacular natural scenery, challenging routes, professional organization, and its central location in Daun makes the event a must-attend for ambitious mountain bikers.

Around 2,000 Participants

With approximately 2,000 participants, the VulkanBike is one of the largest mountain bike marathons in Germany. Athletes from all German-speaking regions, as well as from Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, and Great Britain, travel to the Vulkaneifel for the event. The high number of participants attests to the attractiveness of the routes and the quality of the organization.

Routes from 25 to 101 Kilometers

The range of distances is broad:

• 25 km: Beginner route for hobby riders and families.
• Medium Distances (50-75 km): Classic marathon distances for ambitious mountain bikers.
• 101 km: The premier discipline – a true Eifel ultra-marathon with challenging elevation gains and trail sections.

Start: Leopoldstraße/Market Square Daun

The starting point is the market square of Daun in Leopoldstraße. Its central location makes the event a town festival and brings thousands of spectators into the city center. The town, athletes, and spectators merge into a great festive atmosphere.

Vulkaneifel as the Route Area

The routes lead through the Vulkaneifel – an Eldorado for mountain bikers:

• Maars: Routes around Schalkenmehrener Maar, Weinfelder Maar, and Gemündener Maar.
• Eifel Heights: With impressive elevation gains and trail passages.
• Forests and Meadows: Natural riding on selected routes.
• Volcanic Heritage: Past crater remnants, lava formations, and volcanic landscapes.

National and International Significance

The VulkanBike Eifel-Marathon is nationally and internationally recognized. It is a must-attend event in the publications of the MTB marathon scene and regularly attracts professional riders.
