Folk festival in the Dreiburgenland

Thurmansbang is located in the Freyung-Grafenau district, in the so-called Dreiburgenland on the edge of the Bavarian Forest—a holiday region that owes its name to the three nearby castles. The Blumenfest is the town's traditional folk festival and is celebrated on the first weekend of August, from Friday to Monday.

Marquee and brass music

For several days, a large marquee takes center stage, where traditional brass music—including performances by the Musikverein Thurmansbang—sets the mood. The festival atmosphere, Lower Bavarian delicacies, and social gatherings define the character of the event.

Parade, senior citizens' celebration, and children's afternoon

Following the traditional schedule, the Blumenfest begins on Friday with the festive parade of local clubs and the beer tapping ceremony, followed by evening entertainment. Saturday features festival activities, Sunday includes a church service, a senior citizens' celebration, and entertainment, while Monday hosts a children's afternoon with various activities. The festival thus appeals to all generations.

Festivals around Thurmansbang

The Blumenfest is not the only event in the town: there is a village festival in the Lindau district on the second weekend of July, as well as a 'Pflasterlfest' on August 15. However, the Blumenfest remains the social highlight of the Thurmansbang festival calendar.
