Traditional village folk festival with the participation of several clubs in mid-July
The Volksfestgemeinschaft Groß Lafferde is a remarkable example of the power of club work in a village community. Instead of a single club organizing the festival, several clubs share the organizational responsibility. MTV Groß Lafferde, SV Teutonia, Kyffhäuser-Kameradschaft, Junggesellschaft, and other organizations contribute their respective strengths and member bases.
The festive opening is marked by a parade through the village of Groß Lafferde, accompanied by music clubs and friendly clubs from neighboring villages. The king's shooting on Saturday determines the new majesties, who are then ceremonially proclaimed and crowned in the festival tent.
The festival tent at the festival grounds is the social center throughout all three days. Catering managed by the clubs, live music, DJ sets, and dance events shape the proceedings. The shooting ball on Saturday evening is the social highlight of the weekend and attracts a wide audience from the entire Peine district.
The participation of various clubs ensures a diverse program. Sports competitions, demonstrations, children's activities, musical performances, and culinary specialties from the respective clubs complement the classic shooting festival program and create a varied festival weekend.
The Volksfest is an identity-defining event for the residents of Groß Lafferde. It is an occasion for family reunions, gatherings of friends, and welcoming former residents. This social function is at least as important as the individual program items and ensures the vitality of the village community.
From Sunday evening to Tuesday afternoon (or Friday to Sunday, depending on the program), the Volksfestgemeinschaft offers a packed schedule. The parade, king's shooting, coronation, shooting ball, and morning pint follow the proven sequence of North German folk festivals.
The participation of various clubs ensures a diverse program. Sporting contributions from MTV and SV Teutonia, tradition-preserving elements from Kyffhäuser-Kameradschaft, and the youthful energy of Junggesellschaft complement the classic shooting festival program.
The detailed program will be published by the Volksfestgemeinschaft Groß Lafferde in early summer 2026. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
