Marksmen's Tradition in the Samtgemeinde Selsingen

For generations, the Schützengesellschaft Selsingen e.V. has been a central player in village life in Selsingen, the main town of the Samtgemeinde of the same name. The annual Volks- und Schützenfest is the social highlight of the club's year, bringing together members, friendly clubs, and the local population at the Selsingen shooting range.

Competitions for Ladies, Youth, and Active Members

A special feature of the Selsingen Marksmen's Association is the strong participation of all club groups in the competition. The ladies' section, the youth section, and the active members' team compete in their own categories to determine their respective majesties. This results in a ladies' royal house, a youth royal house, and an active members' royal house, which collectively shape the club's year.

Parade and Coronation

The parade through the Selsingen village is one of the most visible traditions of the festival. Marksmen in uniform, marching bands, the royal court, and friendly clubs march through the decorated streets. The ceremonial coronation of the new majesties in the festival tent marks the emotional climax of the weekend.

Festival Tent and Folk Festival

During the two festival days, the festival tent at the shooting range is the focal point. Dance evenings with live music, morning pint gatherings, beer service, food stalls, and entertainment offerings shape the atmosphere. Families, club members, neighbors, and guests from the Samtgemeinde gather at the festival grounds.

Meeting Point of the Samtgemeinde

The Volks- und Schützenfest Selsingen is a meeting point for the entire Samtgemeinde. Residents from the districts of Rhade, Sandbostel, Anderlingen, Ostereistedt, Seedorf, Rockstedt, and others come to Selsingen for the festival weekend. Thus, the festival remains an important social anchor of rural life.
