Premiere in the Wendland
Viva la Wiese is a new, ambitious festival for the Wendland district town of Lüchow — the premiere will take place in 2026. With a ten-day format starting on September 25, 2026, the non-profit association behind the festival makes a clear cultural policy statement: Lüchow and the Wendland region should get a new, diverse festival format that combines culture, gastronomy, and community.
Two Tents, Lots of Program
The festival operates with two large tents, each offering space for 1,000 visitors. This allows multiple event formats to run in parallel — concerts in one tent, theater or culinary formats in the other.
Confirmed Acts
Already confirmed for the premiere:
- Gestört aber Geil — Electro/Dance duo
- Reis Against die Spülmaschine — Comedy-pop band
- Further acts will be announced in spring and summer 2026
Program Diversity
The festival combines various formats:
- Concerts on the stages of the two tents
- Improv theater as a special stage format
- Wine festival with selected vendors
- Food festival with culinary stands
Fair Prices and Association Logic
With admission of a maximum of €25, Viva la Wiese focuses on accessibility. The non-profit association structure underscores the ambition to be a festival for the region — not a commercial event. Goal: To strengthen culture and community in the Wendland region.
Festival Premiere with Significance
With the Kulturelle Landpartie, the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker, MSNT, and many other festivals, the Wendland region is already a northern German festival stronghold. Viva la Wiese adds a new accent: a diverse city festival in the district town itself, bringing together various arts and delights under one roof.
