About Viva la Vida! Tango Festival
Viva la Vida! Tango Festival — edition 2026
The Viva la Vida! TangoMusikFestival 2026 continues its proven concept: four days of Tango Argentino with live music at eye level with the dancers. The opening is on Thursday, June 25th, with an open-air Milonga on the covered Manching Town Hall Square. From Friday to Sunday, the program moves to the ballroom of the Hotel Manchinger Hof with its spacious parquet floor. The line-up includes the tango ensembles Hugo Satorre y Emiliano Faryna (Los Suplentes), Las Clandestinas, and Trio Il Faut, as well as other acts to be confirmed. Practicas and workshops take place during the day, and the Milongas last late into the night. Those who wish can end the evening at Tango Café Vinyl — a vinyl DJ program featuring historical and rare tango records.

Tango and Music at Eye Level
The Viva la Vida! TangoMusikFestival stands out from classical tango festivals. Instead of large stages, distant concerts, and strict program schedules, the festival focuses on an intimate concept: live musicians play unplugged amidst the dance floor, often at eye level with the dancers. Spontaneous ensembles form out of the situation; musicians who know each other from international tours meet in new constellations. The organizer is the Ingolstadt-based tango club IN-Tango e.V.
Program — Milongas, Practicas, Concerts
The festival program spans four days and follows a proven structure:
- Thursday — Opening Milonga on Manching's Town Hall Square under a covered open-air dance floor.
- Friday to Sunday — Milongas, Practicas, and concerts at the Hotel Manchinger Hof. The ballroom with a parquet floor offers space for extended dance evenings.
- Tango Café Vinyl — a dedicated section with vinyl DJs from the tango scene.
- During the day — Practicas and workshops for all levels, often moderated by the festival musicians.
International Artist Line-up
Every year, the festival attracts internationally renowned tango ensembles and solo musicians to Upper Bavaria. Recurring guests include Hugo Satorre y Emiliano Faryna (Los Suplentes), Las Clandestinas, Trio Il Faut, as well as other confirmed ensembles. Last year, guests included the Quinteto Tanguango and the Orquesta Pablo Montanelli — a testament to the quality of the line-up.
Ingolstadt and the Tango Scene
Ingolstadt, a district-free city in the Upper Bavaria region and the fourth-largest city in Bavaria with over 140,000 inhabitants, is home to an active tango scene centered around IN-Tango e.V. The festival uses the Hotel Manchinger Hof in Manching (south of Ingolstadt) as its central venue — with accommodation, shared catering, and a large hall with a parquet floor. This concept makes the festival a travel and weekend experience.
