Summer in Unkel with Live Music

The second edition of Unkel Live continues the concept first tested in 2025: instead of a single festival site, the music moves through the city. Various restaurants and beer gardens open their outdoor and indoor spaces for bands and ensembles, offering guests concerts with free admission. The organizer Michael Hommerich cooperates with the city of Unkel and the participating restaurateurs.

Five Dates, Five Concerts

The 2026 season includes five dates between May and September: on May 15th at Café am Markt with the ensemble Stegreif & Ohrenschmaus, on May 29th with the ensemble Zazou in the beer garden of Rheinhotel Schulz, on July 17th with the band The End of Blue at the Restaurant Zur Traube, on August 14th with the formation Kaffeebud at the Weinhaus Im Lämmlein, and on September 19th with the Rock'n Roll Maschine at the RheinLounge637.

Diversity of Sound Worlds

The program design consciously seeks diversity: from jazz improvisation to cover band classics to rock'n'roll energy, the five acts cover a broad spectrum. This heterogeneity gives the series its recognition value and allows it to play with different moods and repertoires.

Free Admission as a Statement

Free admission is not only audience-friendly but part of the concept: Unkel Live sees itself as an event that enlivens the cultural life of the city and supports the gastronomy of the city center. Those who attend a concert are invited to consume at the location — food and drinks are offered on-site.
