University Festival on the Future of Education — TU Braunschweig's Live Stage on June 23
The University:Future Festival (U:FF) was launched in 2020 by the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (Digitalization Forum for Higher Education) and has since become one of Europe's most important forums for discussing the future of higher education. It takes place annually in a hybrid format — with a central online program and live stages at various universities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2026, TU Braunschweig will once again be a live location.
The 2026 festival motto 'Under Pressure' addresses the current challenges facing universities: budget constraints, AI disruption, demographic changes, societal polarization. How are universities responding to this pressure? How are they using it as an opportunity for transformation? What role do digital technologies play? These and similar questions will be explored in over 100 sessions, lectures, workshops, and discussion formats.
TU Braunschweig is hosting two program tracks: The Future-Tech:Stage focuses on emerging technologies — Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality, robotics, quantum computing. Researchers and practitioners from TU Braunschweig will present their projects and discuss with guests from other universities and the audience. The second track, the Media Lab:Stage, is dedicated to digital learning spaces — platforms, tools, and formats that are reshaping learning at the university.
The venue is the historic main building of TU Braunschweig at Pockelsstraße 4 — a venerable university building in the heart of the campus. The contrast between historic architecture and future-oriented discussions about AI and digital teaching is intentionally programmatic, making the festival a space of tension between tradition and innovation.
Admission to the U:FF in Braunschweig is free. Registration via the festival website (festival.hfd.digital) is recommended to reserve seats in sessions. The festival is open to university members of all status groups, teachers of all school types, education managers, and anyone interested in the future of education.
The 2026 edition in Braunschweig brings the central themes of digital university transformation to the campus. Two tracks, numerous sessions, a clear focus on future issues.
