The Graf returns — Open-air concert on June 20, 2026 in Mönchengladbach
It was one of the most talked-about reunion announcements in the German music scene in 2025: Unheilig is back. After more than nine years of hiatus, during which frontman "Der Graf" (Bernd Heinrich Graf) withdrew from touring, the band is kicking off in 2026 under the tour title "Wieder zurück — Das Comeback Konzert". The winter dates 2025/2026 sold out in record time — subsequently, summer dates were added. One of them: SparkassenPark Mönchengladbach on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
Unheilig defined a unique blend of gothic pop, synth-rock, and grand choruses with songs like "Geboren um zu leben" (Born to Live), "Winter" (Winter), and "So wie du warst" (As You Were). The album "Große Freiheit" (Great Freedom) (2010) was number 1 on the German album charts for 23 weeks — a record for a German rock band that remains almost unmatched to this day. The Graf initially bid farewell in 2016 with the "Gipfelstürmer" (Summit Stormer) tour — the return in 2026 is an event.
The SparkassenPark is the most important open-air venue on the Lower Rhine. Since 2010, large open-air concerts and sports events have been held in the former harness racing track — Helene Fischer, Iron Maiden, Genesis, and many others have already performed here. Its location in Mönchengladbach-Hardt with good transport links makes the park a popular venue for acts from western Germany.
Mönchengladbach is an independent city in the western Lower Rhine region of North Rhine-Westphalia, with over 270,000 inhabitants, making it one of the state's largest cities. Known primarily for football (Borussia Mönchengladbach), its textile industry history, and a vibrant cultural scene. Besides the Borussia-Park, the SparkassenPark is the city's second major event center.
