Open-air concert by the internationally acclaimed crossover violinist David Garrett at SparkassenPark Mönchengladbach
When summer evenings grow long and the nights on the Lower Rhine are mild, the SparkassenPark Mönchengladbach regularly transforms into one of North Rhine-Westphalia's best open-air stages. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 8:00 PM (doors open at 6:00 PM), the world-renowned crossover violinist David Garrett will give his open-air concert as part of the Millennium Symphony Open Air Tour.
The current program „Millennium Symphony” is Garrett's declaration of love to the pop and R&B classics of the last 25 years. The organizers state that „The top hits of the last 25 years” are „transformed into striking sound images”. The setlist includes pieces by Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, and many other pop stars – all rearranged for solo violin and orchestra by a classically trained violin virtuoso who bridges the gap between popular and classical music like few others.
David Garrett, born in Aachen, is now one of the most successful classical artists worldwide. Over 5 million CDs sold, 5.6 billion streams, 17 albums with a total of 18 Top Ten chart positions in Europe and the USA. 14 platinum and 32 gold awards. His blend of classical violin technique and crossover programming has opened him up to an audience far beyond the traditional classical clientele.
The SparkassenPark Mönchengladbach at Am Hockeypark 1 is one of the region's most established open-air venues. Originally a hockey stadium, the park has developed into an event location for concerts and festivals – with excellent acoustics due to the open stadium grounds and good visibility from all seats. In the summer of 2026, a whole series of other major acts are expected here in addition to Garrett.
General ticket sales began on November 14, 2025, via Eventim. Wheelchair spaces are sold out. Special arrangements for people with disabilities are possible upon request – contact SparkassenPark.
