Open-air concert 'Die lustige Feld-Musik' at Greiffenberg Castle Ruins
The Uckermark Music Weeks were founded in 1992 and are now one of Eastern Germany's most distinguished Early Music festivals. They bring classical and Baroque music to atmospherically charming venues in the sparsely populated Uckermark – one of Germany's most rural regions. The festival motto is 'Early Music and More': alongside Baroque and Renaissance, the program also features contemporary works, crossover projects, and unusual formats.
From August 1st to 23rd, 2026, the festival will span three August weeks with over 20 concerts. Venues include:
One of the highlights of the 2026 festival is the open-air concert 'Die lustige Feld-Musik – The Art of the Oboe Band' at the Greiffenberg Castle Ruins, part of Angermünde in the Uckermark district. On Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 4 PM, a special ensemble will present Baroque wind music within the historic walls of the medieval castle:
The ensemble traces the tradition of the Baroque oboe band – wind ensembles that played at court festivals and in military ceremonial service in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Greiffenberg Castle Ruins are located in the Greiffenberg Valley, about 10 kilometers west of Angermünde. They date back to the 13th century and are now picturesque ruins set within a nature park. The open courtyard with its historic walls offers exceptional acoustics for open-air concerts.
Three weeks of Early Music and crossover in the Uckermark. The Greiffenberg concert on August 9th at 4 PM is one of the three open-air concerts of the 2026 festival. The special ensemble featuring Friederike Köhncke (tenor oboe), Judith Gerhardt (oboe), Beáta Polonkai (recorder), Enrico Toffano (bassoon), and Peter Alexander Bauer (percussion) dedicates itself to the tradition of courtly oboe bands – Baroque wind ensembles performing works by Lully, Telemann, Handel, and lesser-known masters. In case of rain, the performance will be moved to a nearby church.
Greiffenberg is a district of the town Angermünde in the Uckermark district, approx. 80 km northeast of Berlin. By car via A11 or B198.
Reservations via Reservix (link on uckermaerkische-musikwochen.de).
In case of rain, open-air concerts will be moved to a nearby church – tickets remain valid.
