A Festival for the Tuber
In the Baltic Sea resort of Ückeritz on the island of Usedom, everything revolves around the potato on a September day. The Ückeritz Potato Festival is already celebrating its 29th edition in 2026 and is one of the most original village festivals in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. Locals and guests gather on the Old Kurplatz in the town center for a joyful festival day dedicated to the popular tuberous plant.
Program with Potato Sack Race and Talk Show
The festival begins with a Frühschoppen (morning pint) and offers a colorful program throughout the day: a talk show, children's entertainment, and celebrity guests provide variety. The highlight in the afternoon is the traditional potato sack race, where the strongest woman and the strongest man are sought. Music and games accompany the entire day.
