About TuFa Trier 2026

The Tuchfabrik Trier (TuFa) celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026. With around 100,000 visitors per year, it is one of the largest socio-cultural centers in Rhineland-Palatinate. The year-round program for 2026 includes concerts from pop, rock, jazz, world music, and classical, comedy and cabaret evenings, theater and dance productions, readings, workshops, and changing exhibitions in the in-house gallery. The PARTYICIPATION series, with participatory formats and hands-on events, plays a special role. TuFa is also part of the Rhineland-Palatinate Triennale (April-May 2026) and participates in the City of Trier's World Heritage anniversary program. The venue is the former cloth factory at Wechselstraße 4-6, a historic industrial building in the city center.

The Tuchfabrik Trier – TuFa for short – has grown into the most important socio-cultural center in Rhineland-Palatinate since its founding in the mid-1980s. With around 100,000 visitors per year, it is a central player in Trier's and the region's cultural life. The year 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the institution – an occasion for a particularly dense annual program and several anniversary formats.

The building at Wechselstraße 4-6 – a former 19th-century cloth factory – houses several halls and stages of various sizes, as well as gallery and workshop spaces. This enables an exceptional range of programming: concerts from pop, rock, indie, jazz, world music, classical, and singer-songwriter; comedy, cabaret, and stand-up; theater and dance productions; readings by German-speaking and international authors; workshops for all age groups; and changing exhibitions in the in-house gallery.

A central role in its 40th year is played by the PARTYICIPATION series, a format that underscores TuFa's socio-cultural DNA: participatory events, hands-on concerts, open workshops, and discussion formats that actively involve the audience rather than just entertaining them. This aligns with the institution's self-image as a meeting and co-creation space for the broadest possible city society.

In 2026, TuFa will also be part of the Rhineland-Palatinate Triennale (April-May 2026), a statewide festival of the independent scene, and will participate in the World Heritage anniversary program of the City of Trier on the occasion of 40 years of UNESCO World Heritage Trier (1986-2026). The complete event schedule is continuously updated on tufa-trier.de.
