About Tour de Börde

On June 20, 2026, the Tour de Börde takes place in Schackensleben (Hohe Börde municipality) — one of the largest cycling sports festivals in the Magdeburger Börde. A joint rally from the villages of Hohe Börde, plus the traditional Elderflower Festival of the Women's Farmers' Association with the crowning of the Elderflower Hat Queen. Over 80 cyclists meet for the ceremony — a day of pure Börde landscape, elderflower, and village life.

Hohe Börde — Elderflower Country

If you know a German low mountain range region where elderflower not only grows by the wayside but entire cycling path networks are built around it, then it's the Hohe Börde. The municipality in the Börde district, northwest of Magdeburg, has developed an Elderflower Cycle Path Network together with the Holli Holler association. The Tour de Börde is the annual summer highlight of this theme — a rally of the villages with a ceremony at the destination.

2026 in Schackensleben

In 2026, Schackensleben is the destination for the Tour de Börde. Around 80 cyclists from neighboring villages (Groß Santersleben, among others) start in the morning after a joint breakfast and arrive at the Schackensleben village green. There, the Elderflower Festival of the Hohe Börde Women's Farmers' Association takes over: elderflower drinks, elderflower syrup, elderflower cake, elderflower vinegar — and the annual crowning of the Elderflower Hat Queen.

Tradition Since 2009

The Elderflower Festival has been celebrated in Hohe Börde since 2009; for the past three years, it has merged with the Tour de Börde into a joint event. The Tour also includes a photo competition: visitors vote with ballot papers at the festival in Schackensleben on June 20, 2026, for the most beautiful picture from the past tour year.

Magdeburger Börde — Black Earth and Cycling Culture

The Magdeburger Börde in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, with its black earth soils, is one of the most fertile landscapes in Central Europe. Flat, vast, with clear paths — ideal for cycling rallies. Visitors to the Tour de Börde get an impression of how rural club life functions in the region — women farmers, sports clubs, and local heritage associations pull together.

Tour de Börde — edition 2026

The 2026 Tour de Börde takes place on Saturday, June 20, with Schackensleben as the destination. A rally from the villages of Hohe Börde, meeting at the village green, Elderflower Festival with the crowning of the Elderflower Hat Queen, and evaluation of the photo competition. Detailed schedules for individual village starts will be published by the Hohe Börde municipality.

The 2026 Tour de Börde has Schackensleben as its destination — around 80 participants from the villages of Hohe Börde (Groß Santersleben, Niederndodeleben, Ochtmersleben, Irxleben, Hermsdorf, etc.) will cycle in a rally to the village green. The Hohe Börde Women's Farmers' Association will host the Elderflower Festival.

On the program: Crowning of the Elderflower Hat Queen, elderflower specialties (syrup, sparkling wine, cake, savory snacks with elderflower), live music from the region, and the evaluation of the photo competition — visitors vote for the best tour photo from the previous year using ballot papers.
