Over 180 tattoo artists, stage shows, and competitions in the exhibition hall
The Tattoo Convention Idar-Oberstein is one of the fastest-growing conventions in Rhineland-Palatinate. In its thirteenth edition, it brings together over one hundred and eighty tattoo artists from Germany, Europe, and overseas under the roof of the Messe Idar-Oberstein. The booth times allow for both spontaneous walk-ins and pre-arranged sessions, making it possible to work on body suits, sleeves, or smaller designs throughout both days.
Stylistically, the exhibitor lineup covers the entire spectrum of contemporary tattoo culture: Old School and Traditional, Neo-Traditional, Realism, Black & Grey, Japanese, Geometric Linework, Dotwork, Watercolor, Lettering, and Handpoked Pieces. Accompanying booths feature vendors for care products, fashion, skincare, piercing, and body modification, as well as galleries, publishers, and independent artists offering prints and originals.
The convention is complemented by a two-day stage program that deliberately sets itself apart from the competition of larger conventions in Berlin or Frankfurt. Burlesque acts, fire and acrobatics shows, live bands from the rock, punk, and metal spectrum, and DJ sets create a festival atmosphere that lasts throughout the weekend. The competitions, awarded in several categories – such as Best Sleeve, Best Color Piece, Best Black & Grey, Best Large Motif, and Best of Show – will be awarded on Sunday.
The exhibition hall is wheelchair accessible, and children under fourteen have free admission. For travel, the nearby A 62 motorway is recommended; ample parking is available at the exhibition grounds.
The exact lineup for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years: a main hall with tattoo booths, a stage for live shows, a lounge for catering, and an area for exhibitors from the fashion and care sectors. Competitions in various categories will be held over the weekend, with winners announced on Sunday afternoon.
