East German Motorsport in the Melting Pot
The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben — a 3.696 km long race track in the Börde district (AGS 15083, State of Saxony-Anhalt) — is one of the most important motorsport locations in eastern Germany. It hosts DTM races, ADAC GT Masters, and 24-hour races. In 2026, the arena is launching a new format: Days of Thunder — the Börde Trembles, a festival entirely dedicated to East German motorsport history.
GDR Motorsport — The Renaissance
Trabant, Wartburg, MZ, EMW, AWE — the brands of GDR motorsport live on in an active vintage car and racing scene. Clubs, private collectors, and factory restorations today maintain vehicles built between 1949 and 1990 in Saxony, Thuringia, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the Börde region. "Days of Thunder" brings this world together for the first time as a cohesive festival on the big race track. Main program highlight: the ADAC Historic Cup Ost, a racing series for historic GDR touring cars, will hold a round in Oschersleben — on the same track where DTM races today.
Three Days of Program
The program runs from Friday to Sunday: demo laps with GDR racing classics, paddock tours, pit lane with historic racing technology exhibitions, fan mile, live music in the paddock area, model building, and a lecture program. A must-attend for collectors, and an unusual journey into German motorsport history for families. Tickets available through the Motorsport Arena.
