Oldtimer meeting on Boppard's market square with historic vehicles up to model year 1990
Boppard, nestled between the Middle Rhine and the Hunsrück, is an ideal venue for vintage car fans for several reasons: the Middle Rhine route along the B 9 between Bingen and Koblenz is one of Germany's most scenic roads, with castles, vineyards, and Rhine views around every bend. The Bopparder Schleife, the largest and steepest Rhine loop in the World Heritage site, as well as the Hunsrückhöhenstraße (Hunsrück High Road), offer additional winding routes for a drive.
The Classic Cars Rally has been organized by the Boppard Tourist Information for several years. The concept is clear: on Saturday morning, the vehicles gather on the historic market square for a vehicle exhibition. In the afternoon, a joint drive through the Middle Rhine Valley and the Hunsrück starts, followed by a convivial evening with refreshments. On Sunday, the vehicles are again presented on the market square, often combined with a drive to a nearby destination or a rally.
Vehicles up to model year 1990 are permitted – thus including classic vintage cars (over 30 years old) and youngtimers. The field of participants is internationally mixed: Mercedes-Benz 'Pagodas', Porsche 911s of various generations, MG Bs, Jaguar E-Types, Alfa Romeo Spiders, Citroën DS, BMW 2002s, VW Beetles and Type 1 vans, American classics, and rare pre-war cars. The vehicle exhibition on the market square is free for the public and owners to attend.
Boppard's restaurants offer their culinary delights, shops are open, and refreshments with regional specialties and Boppard Riesling are available at several points. The weekend thus combines automotive culture, enjoyment, and World Heritage tourism.
The 2026 rally will bring classic vehicles up to model year 1990 to the World Heritage city on the Rhine. A vehicle exhibition, a scenic drive through one of Germany's most beautiful regions, and Boppard's hospitality will form the framework.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years: vehicle exhibition on the market square, guided drive through the Middle Rhine and Hunsrück, and a social evening with refreshments.
