New club festival in Tespe as successor to the cancelled Schützenfest
Tespe belongs to the Elbmarsch municipality in the Harburg district and is known for its active club life. After the traditional Schützenfest cannot take place in 2026, the local clubs have decided to establish a new format: the Tag der Vereine. This aims to fill the gap in the event calendar and simultaneously increase the visibility of the numerous clubs.
The format utilizes four central club locations in Tespe: the swimming pool, the TSV Tespe grounds, the fire station, and the shooting club house. The four locations are within walking distance and will be active during the four hours. Visitors can stroll from one location to the next, getting to know the respective clubs, their offers, and their premises.
The focus of the concept is the active participation of visitors. Each location features hands-on stations, taster sessions, and information stands. Families can use the swimming pool, try out sports with TSV, inspect fire department equipment, and experience shooting at the shooting club house. This turns the festival into a platform where clubs can gain new members and citizens can make contacts in a low-threshold manner.
The premiere of the Tag der Vereine has symbolic significance beyond the actual program. It shows how a local community reacts to the discontinuation of a traditional festival: not with resignation, but with creative reformatting. Should the format meet with a positive response, a continuation in the coming years is conceivable – either as a standalone series or in conjunction with the returning Schützenfest.
The Elbmarsch municipality, located between the Geest and the Elbe, has a dense network of clubs that supports the social life of the region. The Tag der Vereine Tespe fits into this network and complements the numerous local festivals, Schützenfeste, and club celebrations that shape the event calendar.
The compact four-hour format allows visitors to experience all four club locations in Tespe in one afternoon. The proximity of the locations allows for a relaxed tour from one club to the next. Each club group presents itself independently and designs its activity area.
As a new format, the Tag der Vereine also has the character of an experiment. The response to the premiere will determine whether the format will be repeated or further developed in the coming years. In this regard, the event particularly invites citizens and club members to participate.
The detailed program will be communicated by the participating clubs shortly before the event. The structure follows an open station format at four locations:
