Day of Urban Development Funding Dierkow and Toitenwinkel

A Double Festival Ground

The Day of Urban Development Funding is a nationwide initiative that takes place once a year in May, inviting citizens to discover the results of urban development funding in their neighborhood. In Rostock, the event is staged as a large district festival in the two districts of Dierkow and Toitenwinkel. Both locations will be active simultaneously and are connected by a free shuttle bus, allowing visitors to experience the entire program.

Program and Competition

The main stage in Dierkow features performances, competitions, and show acts, including the »Stage Challenge« and a tug-of-war between the two districts. Toitenwinkel complements the program with a flea market and a bicycle workshop. Additionally, there will be children's crafts, face painting, sports stations, and a district competition »Home in the Northeast! Dierkow and Toitenwinkel in Competition«, with the winners being awarded during the day.

Local Context

Dierkow and Toitenwinkel are two northeastern districts of Rostock in the district of Rostock (state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). Both neighborhoods were built as large housing estates in the 1970s and 1980s and have been part of the »Soziale Stadt« (Social City) or »Sozialer Zusammenhalt« (Social Cohesion) programs for years. The district festival makes the results of urban improvements visible and strengthens neighborly coexistence.
