What happens when you complement the everyday routine of the weekly market with a relaxed stage? For years, the Swing in der City format has answered this question with the perfect middle ground: artists, solo musicians, and street performers entertain in Osnabrück's city center on Saturdays from 11 am to 1 pm — precisely when the weekly market is at its busiest.

Stages Without Stages

The performances take place directly in the pedestrian zones and on the central squares, without demarcated stages. Shoppers might walk past a jazz trumpet. Those strolling around might discover an acrobat in the market square. The atmosphere is casual, not staged — and precisely for that reason, special.

Break Dates 2026

The format takes a break on two Saturdays: July 25 and August 1, 2026. Swing in der City is active on all other Saturdays from June 20 to August 22.

Summer in the City as a Framework

Swing in der City is one of over 100 program elements of the city campaign Sommer in der Stadt 2026. The campaign bundles concerts, open-air cinema, city tours, family programs, and sports events from June to September. Admission to Swing in der City is free — donations (hat money) are explicitly welcome.
