About Lausitz Festival Altdöbern
Lausitz Festival Altdöbern — edition 2026
French Song Evening in a Baroque Castle
The 2026 edition of the Lausitz Festival dedicates the "À la française" concert to a journey through the French song repertoire. Cyrille Dubois — a French tenor with an international career — brings his proven stylistic knowledge of French mélodie to the stage at Altdöbern Castle. The combination of piano (Tristan Raës) and accordion (João Barradas) opens up new sonic spaces for the traditional song concert.
Altdöbern Castle, with its baroque halls, offers an ideal setting for this sonic aesthetic — a combination of French art and Lusatian castle architecture.

Altdöbern Castle – Baroque Palace Complex in Lusatia
Altdöbern Castle, built in the 16th century and converted into a baroque palace in the 18th century, is one of the most impressive palace complexes in Lower Lusatia. With its castle park, orangery, and historic halls, it offers an ideal setting for concerts of the Lausitz Festival. Altdöbern is located in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, about 80 km south of Berlin and 40 km west of Cottbus.
Cyrille Dubois – Tenor with a French Profile
Cyrille Dubois is considered one of France's outstanding lyric tenors. With his clear, agile vocal profile, he has specialized in the French song and opera repertoire — Fauré, Poulenc, Hahn, Massenet, Berlioz. For the concert in Altdöbern, he is curating a program of French mélodie and chamber songs with pianist Tristan Raës and accordionist João Barradas — an unusual combination that enriches the traditional song concert with contemporary timbres.
Lausitz Festival 2026 – Theme „aufBruch"
The Lausitz Festival, founded in 2020, is Brandenburg's most distinguished art festival and sees itself as "EUROPE'S ART FESTIVAL". It uses castles, industrial sites, churches, and open-air venues throughout Lusatia — Brandenburg and Saxony. The 2026 edition runs from August 25 to September 13 under the theme „aufBruch" — a programmatic reflection on the structural transformation of Lusatia after the end of lignite mining, but also on artistic breakthroughs and new sound worlds.
In the Oberspreewald-Lausitz District and the Lusatian Lake District
Altdöbern is located in the southern Brandenburg part of the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, near the Lusatian Lake District and the border with the state of Saxony. Following the structural changes from lignite mining, the region is now one of Brandenburg's most exciting tourist destinations — with new lakes, historic castles, and industrial monuments.
