Every year at the beginning of June, the SummerSounds Festival transforms the Neustadtswallanlagen into Bremen's green open-air stage. Over three days, experience a colourful mix of pop, funk, jazz, hip-hop, and electro free of charge, plus a flea market, family meadow, and neighbourhood picnic. Around 30,000 visitors per year — one of the Hanseatic city's most important community festivals.

The 21st edition of the SummerSounds Festival will take place from June 5 to 7, 2026, in the Neustadtswallanlagen. Three days of free cultural and music festival featuring pop, funk, jazz, hip-hop, and electro, plus a flea market, family meadow, and neighbourhood atmosphere.

The 21st edition of the SummerSounds Festival runs from June 5 to 7, 2026, in Bremen's Neustadtswallanlagen. Live concerts by local and international acts will be spread across several stages: pop, funk, jazz, indie, singer-songwriter, hip-hop, African beats, and electronic music. A neighbourhood flea market, a family meadow with children's activities, sustainable food trucks, and donation stands complement the programme. The entire festival remains free of charge and without any obligation to consume — financed by solidarity donations, local sponsors, and the commitment of the SummerSounds e.V. association.

Getting There

Take tram line 4, 5, or 6 to the Hohentorsplatz or Pappelstraße stop, then a short walk. Ideal by bicycle — plenty of parking spaces at the entrance. By car, take the B6/B75 towards the city centre; parking is available in the residential streets around the park (limited).

Friday to Sunday, June 5–7, 2026, from afternoon until late evening each day. Exact stage times and line-up will be published from spring 2026 onwards at summersounds.de.

Free admission. Donations welcome. Bringing your own food and drinks is permitted; food trucks and a bar will also be available on-site.

Bremen's Green Community Festival

SummerSounds Festival has been a firm fixture of the Bremen summer since 2006. Over a June weekend, the Neustadtswallanlagen — the historic park with its mill, promenade, and pond just south of the Weser river — transforms into an open festival landscape. Around 30,000 people from Bremen and the region gather for each edition to experience live music, meet on the meadow, picnic, and foster community. The festival is organized by the association SummerSounds e.V. with support from donors, local media (Weser-Kurier, Radio Bremen), and the city.

Music and Programme

The musical programme combines local and international acts, ranging from pop, funk, and jazz to indie and singer-songwriter, hip-hop, African beats, and electronic music. Several stages are spread along the Wallanlagen, complemented by DJ floors, small performance islands, and a neighbourhood flea market. A family meadow with children's activities, a quiet picnic zone, and sustainable food trucks complete the offering.

Free Admission — Donations Welcome

The entire festival is free to enter and without any obligation to consume. To ensure it remains so, SummerSounds is primarily financed by voluntary donations from visitors. Those who wish to support the festival are invited to contribute at the donation stands or online. The festival places great importance on accessibility and a sustainable event concept.

Local Context

SummerSounds takes place in the Neustadt district — south of the Weser, with views of Bremen's historic Old Town skyline. The Neustadtswallanlagen have been one of Bremen's most important green spaces since the 19th century and regularly become one of Northern Germany's most vibrant open-air stages in June.
