A cultural centre moves into the green

When Kukoon sets up its yurts in the park on Leibnizplatz, the summer of culture begins in Bremen's Neustadt district. Kukoon im Park is the seasonal open-air offshoot of the Kukoon cultural centre, run by the association for colourful combinations. From 15 May 2026, the park on Leibnizplatz will be transformed daily from 2 PM to 10:30 PM into an open meeting place with café, bar, and cultural activities – lasting into late summer.

Ice cream, coffee, and a political programme

What makes Kukoon im Park special is its mix: during the day, the relaxed park café atmosphere with ice cream and coffee beckons, while in the evening, a committed cultural programme follows. This includes political evenings, readings, lectures, concerts, and activities for children – a deliberately socio-cultural and discursive offering that transforms the park into a stage for encounters and debate throughout the season. Admission varies depending on the event; much is freely accessible or donation-based.

Neighbourhood culture that is appreciated

Over the years, Kukoon im Park has carved out a firm place in the summer life of Neustadt. For many residents, the park on Leibnizplatz becomes their living room, stage, and debate forum simultaneously during the warm months – a prime example of how a cultural collective can invigorate public space and foster community.
