Rabenstein Castle – Hilltop Castle in Hoher Fläming

The Summer Medieval Market Rabenstein Castle takes place at one of Brandenburg's most beautiful preserved hilltop castles. Rabenstein Castle has perched atop a sandstone rock above the village of Rabenstein/Fläming in the Hoher Fläming Nature Park since the 12th century – a sparsely populated, hilly natural landscape southwest of Potsdam. With its keep, battlements, and several courtyards, the complex offers the ideal backdrop for an authentic medieval spectacle.

Large Three-Day Medieval Market

In 2026, the Summer Medieval Market runs from Friday, July 31st, to Sunday, August 2nd. It is open extensively on all three days:

• Friday: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Saturday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
• Sunday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

The market is opened on Friday at noon by a herald. The festival grounds teem with encampment groups from all over Germany, recreating the rough life of medieval soldiers and craftspeople.

Program Highlights

• Show Combats – historical weapons art, knight fights, and troop movements on the main stage.
• Craftspeople – blacksmith, woodturner, dyer, potter, carpenter, saddler, minter, bow maker demonstrate their skills.
• Performance Artists – jesters, fire-eaters, acrobats, minstrels.
• Medieval Band Turas Math – continuous musical accompaniment to the market events.
• Children's Puppet Show – performances several times daily for the youngest visitors.
• Fire Shows – in the evenings on the main square in front of the keep.
• Archery, medieval game stations, dice booths.

Traders and Craftspeople

Over 50 traders offer medieval goods: jewelry, leather and felt items, drinking horns, bows and arrows, mead and herbal elixirs, spiced dishes cooked over fire, and sweet honey cakes. The taverns on the castle field serve beer, wine, mead, and non-alcoholic children's drinks.

Admission and Travel

Advance online tickets (until 9 AM on the event day): Adults €12, Children up to 14 years €6, Family ticket (2 adults + 2 children) €32. Children under 1m tall enter free. Box office: Adults €14, Children €7, Family €38. The castle is located about 1.5 km outside the village of Rabenstein/Fläming and is accessible via hiking trails and castle parking lots.

The Two Markets Per Year

Rabenstein Castle hosts two medieval markets annually: a smaller Spring Medieval Market in early June (2026: June 4th–7th) and the large Summer Medieval Market over three days at the end of July/beginning of August. The summer market is the larger and more popular of the two dates.
