Family Summer Festival on the Castle Hill

The Summer Festival at Mansfeld Castle has been the annual family festival of CVJM Sachsen-Anhalt (Christian Association of Young People) since 2023 – with its headquarters in Halle (Saale) and conference and educational facilities at Mansfeld Castle. The castle towers over the town of Mansfeld and is the ancestral seat of the Counts of Mansfeld, in whose service Hans Luther worked as a miner – the father of the reformer Martin Luther. Mansfeld is therefore a Luther town.

The format of the summer festival is clear: a day with a church service in the morning, a shared lunch, creative stalls, sports and games, plus a stage program. The 4th edition in 2026 will take place on September 13. Offered are a climbing wall, a bouncy castle, Bubble Soccer (football in plastic balls), creative stations for children, and a stage with music and short talks. Lunch will be shared, with catering organized by CVJM.

Lutherstadt Mansfeld is located in the Mansfeld-Südharz district in the state of Sachsen-Anhalt, on the edge of the Harz Mountains. The region is shaped by the history of copper shale mining but has a second cultural focus due to Luther. Today, Mansfeld Castle is a conference and educational center for CVJM, with overnight accommodation and a café.
