Traditional street wine festival in Kraichgau — Weingärtnerstraßen around the town hall as a colourful wine tavern
The Sulzfeld Street Wine Festival is one of the most beautiful wine festivals in northern Kraichgau. It traditionally takes place on the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August — in 2026, from Friday, July 31 to Monday, August 3. The concept is classically South German: no central festival stage with a curated large program, but the distribution of the festival events across the Weingärtnerstraßen of the town centre. Local vintners, farm shops, and clubs set up their stalls, each with its own atmosphere and musical accompaniment — this has resulted in a colourful wine tavern where visitors can stroll, move from stall to stall, and discover their favourite Sulzfeld vintners.
Sulzfeld (Baden) is located in northern Kraichgau, on the transition to the Palatinate. The village is part of the Baden Wine Route and has a centuries-old wine-growing tradition. Specialties: Lemberger (red wine, full-bodied), Riesling (medium acidity, fruity), Müller-Thurgau (light white wine), and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). The Sulzfeld wineries are predominantly family businesses — the personal connection between vintners and festival visitors makes the street wine festival special.
For four days, various bands and music groups play in the alleys: regional cover bands, folk bands, acoustic singer-songwriters. Each main stall has its own programming. Catering with:
The atmosphere is evening-Mediterranean, with wooden tables in the alleys, standing tables, and seating areas in the farm shops. Many visitors come from all over northern Baden — from Karlsruhe to Heilbronn — and the nearby Palatinate.
Important: There are two places named Sulzfeld in Germany — Sulzfeld (Baden) in Kraichgau (Karlsruhe district, AGS 08215, postcode 75056) and Sulzfeld am Main in Franconia (Kitzingen district, Bavaria). The street wine festival documented here belongs to the Baden Sulzfeld. The village has about 4,700 inhabitants and belongs to western Kraichgau between Karlsruhe and Bruchsal.
The planned 2026 edition traditionally falls on the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August. The exact program and participating wineries will be published by the Vintners' Association and the municipality of Sulzfeld in early summer 2026 on weinfest-sulzfeld.de.
The festival concept remains stable: decentralized wine stalls in the Weingärtnerstraßen, catering by local vintners and clubs, varied music program in the alleys. Four days of exuberant summer atmosphere in Kraichgau.
Free admission to the festival mile. Wine and food directly at the vintner and club stalls at farm shop/vintner prices. Bring a tasting cup or buy one on-site.
Car: A5 exit Bruchsal, then L612 to Sulzfeld. Parking spaces around the town centre. City centre traffic-calmed during the festival weekend.
Train/Bus: Bruchsal station, then bus to Sulzfeld.
Free admission to the entire festival mile.
Start with a wine tasting at a winery you already know — the Sulzfeld family businesses each have their personal touch. Allow time for strolling; the festival doesn't work like attending a concert, but as a relaxed walk through the alleys with wine and atmosphere.
