Street Food Meets City Festival
The "Street Food & Music Festival" format has been a firm fixture in Krefeld's city centre season for years. Organiser JUST Festivals Event Media GmbH tours with the concept through several German cities; the Krefeld date is considered one of the larger ones. The focus is on a simple idea: Food trucks from around the world meet cool DJs, right in the city centre, with no entry fee.
When and Where is the Festival?
The Street Food & Music Festival 2026 runs from Friday, May 8th to Sunday, May 10th, 2026, on Dionysiusplatz in Krefeld city centre. Opening hours: Friday 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 12:00 PM–10:00 PM.
What to Expect at the Festival
Three days of open-air atmosphere with the following components:
- Over 20 Food Trucks from around the world
- Korean Fried Chicken, Peruvian specialties, Indian vegetarian cuisine
- BBQ and Burgers, Fish & Chips, Spanish Tapas
- Desserts and sweet specialties at any time of day
- Cocktail bar and wine stand with seating
- DJ sets on stage, from International House to Electro to Pop
- Family-friendly atmosphere during the day, festival vibes in the evening
The DJ Programme
Three headliner slots structure the musical side of the festival:
- Friday, May 8th – DJ JHEEZ from 5:00 PM (International House)
- Saturday, May 9th – DJ Ti Stone from 3:00 PM (House/Electro/Pop)
- Sunday, May 10th – Luc Angenehm from 1:00 PM (House/Party)
The DJs play multi-hour sets, the transition between lunch, sundowner, and evening party is seamless.
Dionysiusplatz – Urban Stage
Dionysiusplatz is located directly in Krefeld's city centre, a five-minute walk from the main train station, connecting Ostwall and Rheinstraße. The square is regularly used for city festivals and open-air events in the summer. The surrounding buildings and trees provide pleasant acoustics and shaded spots – ideal for a three-day street food festival.
Krefeld – The Velvet and Silk City
With approximately 230,000 inhabitants, Krefeld is one of the ten largest cities in North Rhine-Westphalia and the seat of an independent administrative district. The former world capital of silk processing today maintains a lively city centre life, with city festivals, the Lower Rhine Carnival, and several street food and music festivals in spring and summer.

Getting There
By train to Krefeld Hauptbahnhof, then a five-minute walk to Dionysiusplatz. By tram 041, 042, 043, 044 to Rheinstraße. By car via the A57 (Krefeld-Zentrum exit) – limited parking in the city centre, use the car parks at the theatre or on Ostwall.
Admission
Free entry. Food and drinks at the food truck and bar stands are payable (cash and card).
On Site
Standing tables and beer benches throughout Dionysiusplatz, some seating areas on the periphery. Mobile toilet facilities on site. In case of rain, the food trucks remain open, and the stage programme will be adapted.
Tips
Come on Saturday evening for the full festival atmosphere. Those who want to enjoy the food without queuing should come on Friday for the opening or Sunday in the late afternoon. The spicy Indian and Peruvian stands often sell out first – try them early.
