Large spring flea market with around 500 stalls in the historic old town of Stade
Around 500 stalls will be set up in Stade's old town on May 10, 2026. The city administration and Stade Tourism coordinate the allocation of stall spaces – the 2026 edition is already fully booked. Private individuals, collectors, antique dealers, and commercial vendors mingle, ensuring a diverse range of offerings.
The selection is deliberately broad: furniture, lamps, handicrafts, books, records, CDs, DVDs, clothing, jewelry, watches, dishes, cutlery, toys, tools, collectibles. Everything from the 19th century to 1990s vintage pieces is represented. Special focuses – such as maritime items, Hanseatic memorabilia, or North German folk art – make the Stade market particularly attractive to collectors.
Stade's old town, with its brick Gothic facades, half-timbered houses, the market square, the Hanseatic harbor, and the Schwinge river with its bridges, lends the flea market a unique character. Those taking a break between stalls can stop at cafés and restaurants, visit the Wilhadi or Cosmae churches, or stroll through the Holzbürgermeisterhaus.
The Stade Spring Flea Market has been a fixture on the city calendar for many years. A second, similarly large event takes place in autumn. Both markets are known beyond the borders of Lower Saxony and attract visitors from Hamburg, Bremen, and Schleswig-Holstein.
Stallholders begin setting up from 8:00 AM. Early birds have the best chance of finding rare items. Throughout the morning and afternoon, the old town fills with thousands of visitors.
Private individuals clear out their attics, antique dealers offer furniture and lamps, and record collectors display records and CDs. The assortment is large and diverse.
