Sacred Music in Baroque Splendour
The Basilikakonzerte Waldsassen have been an established concert series for decades in the magnificent Stiftsbasilika Waldsassen, the baroque landmark of the town of the same name in the Tirschenreuth district near the Czech border. The basilica houses one of Europe's largest organ installations — augmented in 2026 with glass organ pipes as a special feature.
Organ at the Centre
The series focuses on organ concerts with internationally renowned organists. In 2026, guests include Italian competition winner Paolo Oreni (July 12) and Professor Günther Kaunzinger (August 2), a student of prominent French organ masters. Other programmes combine organ with vocals, clarinet, and brass ensembles.
World-Class Choirs for Advent
The highlight of the series are the late autumn concerts: the Grand Autumn Concert by the Basilikachor Waldsassen with guest choir RASTISLAV Blansko (November 8), the Advent concert with the Regensburger Domspatzen (November 29), and the Christmas concert with the Tölzer Knabenchor (December 6).
40 Years of Waldsassen Brass Ensemble
The opening concert on June 21, 2026, titled "Laudate Dominum," celebrates the 40th anniversary of the "Waldsassener Blechbläser" — featuring works by Giovanni Croce, Samuel Scheidt, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and Anton Bruckner, conducted by Armin Scharnagl.

The 2026 series spans from summer to Christmas. The focus is on organ concerts on the grand basilica organ, complemented by brass, vocal, and chamber music programmes, as well as festive choral concerts at the end of the year.
Highlights
Particularly in demand are the Advent concert with the Regensburger Domspatzen (November 29) and the Christmas concert with the Tölzer Knabenchor (December 6). The opening concert celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Waldsassener Blechbläser.

Getting There
Waldsassen is located in the Tirschenreuth district in the northern Oberpfalz, near the Czech border, easily accessible via the A93 (Mitterteich exit) and the B299. The Stiftsbasilika is located at Basilikaplatz 6 in the town centre.
Tickets
Advance ticket sales for 2026 began on December 8, 2025. Tickets are available via OKTicket.de, NT-Ticket.de, and regional ticket outlets. Popular concerts (Domspatzen, Tölzer Knabenchor) have sold out in the past — early booking is recommended.
Venue
All concerts take place in the Stiftsbasilika Waldsassen. The series runs throughout the year from June to December; concert dates can be found in the programme.
