One-day festival for street music, street theatre, literature, and magic in the centre of Erdmannhausen
The Straßenkulturfestival Erdmannhausen is a remarkable cultural initiative by a small municipality in the Ludwigsburg district (AGS 08118). With only around 5,000 inhabitants, Erdmannhausen is organising a festival that attracts artists from the entire Stuttgart metropolitan region — and with a clear concept: street culture in all its facets, on a single festival day.
The venue is the centre of Erdmannhausen between the town hall and Brunnenplatz. Four stages will be set up, often days before the event:
At the 2026 festival, the range extends from classical (string ensembles, wind ensembles), folk (singer-songwriters, acoustic bands), rock and pop (cover bands, originals) to street theatre (mime, clowning, acrobatics), literature (readings, poetry slam, narrative theatre), and magic (mentalism, comedy magic). The programme will be curated by the municipality of Erdmannhausen in April/May 2026 after a public artist application — the call for musicians and artists was already sent out in spring 2026.
The first edition of the festival took place on September 7, 2024, and exceeded the municipality's expectations — 52 artists in 16 groups performed on four stages, and the main street was lively from morning until late evening. Based on this success, the municipality has made the festival an annual event, with a fixed place in the summer calendar (first September, now July).
Erdmannhausen is located between Marbach am Neckar (Schiller's birthplace) and the baroque city of Ludwigsburg, in the hilly foothills of the Swabian Forest. The town centre with its historic town hall, fountain, Protestant church, and surrounding half-timbered and farmhouses forms an almost theatrical backdrop — perfect for a street culture festival that uses this established atmosphere for its stages.
The festival character is explicitly low-threshold: free admission on all four stages. Artists perform for a fee or a share of donations — some pass the hat, others are paid from the festival budget. The municipality finances the stages, technology, and logistical framework.
The detailed artist lineup will be published in June/July 2026 by the municipality of Erdmannhausen after evaluating the artist applications. The daily structure has remained stable since the premiere in 2024:
At the first edition on September 7, 2024, 52 artists in 16 groups performed on the four stages — from classical trios to cover rock bands to solo magic shows. The local press reported a "great success" and "great joy in togetherness." Based on this, the municipality is further developing the festival in 2026.
Artist list 2026 will be published from June 2026 on erdmannhausen.de/veranstaltungen.
Free admission on all four stages. Donations for artists welcome (hat collection). Food and drinks at market stalls — Bratwurst €4, draft beer €4 (0.3 l), Maultaschen €6–€8, crêpes €3.50.
By train: S-Bahn S4 to Marbach (Neckar), then bus 462 to Erdmannhausen (10 minutes). By car: A81 exit Mundelsheim, then B27 towards Marbach/Erdmannhausen. Parking spaces are signposted outside the town centre.
Saturday, July 25, 2026. Programme usually from 2 PM to midnight (stage setup from the morning). Detailed timetable from June 2026 on the municipal website.
Free admission. Donations for artists welcome (hat collection for some acts).
