When Siedlungsweg becomes the meeting point

Jagel is a small municipality in the Amt Arensharde, a few kilometres south of Schleswig in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg. Those who live there know each other. And once a year — on July 4, 2026 — Siedlungsweg becomes a festival mile. The residents organise the festival themselves: tables are set up in the street, everyone brings something, the barbecue is fired up, and the relaxed afternoon begins at 2:30 PM.

A festival with a community spirit

Unlike the big city festivals, the street festival on Siedlungsweg thrives on immediate neighbourhood. You won't experience an official stage programme, no headliners, and no snack stalls here. Instead, coffee, homemade cakes, barbecue from neighbours, perhaps a bouncy castle for the little ones and a boombox on a folding table. The essential thing is togetherness.

Jagel and rural Schleswig-Holstein

Jagel has around 1,600 inhabitants and is located directly on the A7 motorway. The municipality is known for the Jagel Air Base of the Bundeswehr and its dedicated club landscape. Such neighbourhood festivals are not unusual in the state of Schleswig-Holstein — they represent what many appreciate about the region: lived community in manageable structures.
