Dorffest Wohlde

Over 40 Years of Village Festival Tradition

The Dorffest Wohlde has been celebrated since 1982, making it one of the oldest continuously running village festivals in Stapelholm. The municipality of Wohlde, together with local associations — the volunteer fire department, shooting club, sports club, and rural women's association — and many volunteers from the village, are the organizers. The festival follows a classic three-day concept and is the highlight of the village's association calendar.

Program Structure

The village festival typically takes place over the weekend from Friday to Sunday at the end of July. It opens on Friday evening with a beer tent and band performance; Saturday features a family program during the day, elements of a Schützenfest (shooting festival) or sports competitions, and a band evening on Saturday night; Sunday is a family day with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), children's program, and a relaxed conclusion. The Wohlde sports field is the central venue — it hosts the festival tent, stages, and catering stands.

Wohlde in Stapelholm

Wohlde is a small municipality in the Amt Kropp-Stapelholm, about 20 kilometers west of Schleswig and 25 kilometers north of Rendsburg. Stapelholm — the historic landscape between the Eider and Treene rivers — is considered one of the most original geest (upland) landscapes in Schleswig-Holstein, with vast moors, meadows, small villages, and a vibrant association life. Wohlde is known for its active village community — a phenomenon that still thrives in the small Stapelholm villages today. The village festival is the annual highlight that makes this community spirit visible.
