Steverauenfest — Nature Experience in the Southern Münsterland
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 11 am to 6 pm, the Steveraue in Olfen will transform into a large family, nature, and regional festival. The venue is the Naturparkhaus Steveraue, extending to the raft landing stage at the Kökelsumer Bridge. This places the festival right in the heart of the Hohe Mark Nature Park — one of North Rhine-Westphalia's largest nature parks.
Over 70 Exhibitors — Nature, Crafts, Regional Products
The focus is on over 70 exhibitors with an emphasis on:
- Nature and Environmental Education — Associations, protected areas, NABU, forestry initiatives
- Münsterland Specialties — Cheese, honey, bread, flowers, jams
- Crafts and Art — Wood, ceramics, textiles, glass
- Beekeepers, nurseries, permaculture initiatives
Stage and Wildlife — The Program Highlights
A packed program unfolds throughout the day:
- Live Cooking with Tim Andrich — Show cooking with regional ingredients
- Bee Show and wild horse presentation (Konik wild horses from the Steveraue)
- Falconry Demonstration with owls and goshawks
- Magic WOBO — Magic for young and old

Children's Program and Raft Landing Shuttle
For families, there are wooden play equipment, a straw castle, a bouncy castle, a milking competition, a nature quiz, and small fishing stations. A wagon shuttle runs between Hof Schulze Kökelsum, the raft landing stage, and a Solidarity Agriculture (SoLaWi) initiative in the area — allowing you to experience the entire Steveraue without long walks.
Culinary Delights with a Regional Focus
Beef burgers from the Steveraue (from the Konik wild horse pastures), coffee, cake, Belgian waffles, ice cream, and strawberry punch will be available. Many stalls cooperate directly with local farms.
Olfen and the Steveraue
Olfen is located in the Coesfeld district on the southern edge of the Münsterland region. With just over 13,000 inhabitants, it is the smallest town in the district — but due to the Dortmund-Ems Canal, the Stever River, and the nearby Halterner Lakes, it is an important destination for cyclists and day-trippers. The Steveraue is a 280-hectare renaturation area where Konik wild horses and Heck cattle graze year-round.
