The music and pub festival in Nürnberg-Gostenhof
Bierchen und Bühnchen is one of Nuremberg's most charming music formats. Since 2015, the organizers, led by the Brückenfestival team, have been transforming the Gostenhof district – affectionately called "GoHo" by many – and the adjacent Himpfelshof into a giant, decentralized festival stage for one evening. Over 20 pubs, bars, galleries, and cultural venues open their doors for a packed live program.
More than 50 bands, solo artists, and DJs perform simultaneously at different venues. Instead of a fixed festival site, the entire district is the program: You stroll from one venue to another, discover new bands along the way, and put together your evening yourself. The heart of the festival is the open-air main stage at Veit-Stoß-Platz, complemented by established venues on the Nuremberg scene such as MUZclub, Balazzo Brozzi, Desi, Palmengarten, and Dreieinigkeitskirche.
Admission to the festival itself is free – this is part of the event's DNA. The festival is financed by the participating venues and supporters. Bierchen und Bühnchen thrives on the multicultural, creative flair of Gostenhof, which is considered Nuremberg's most colorful district. Between concerts, Franconian beer, street food, and encounters on the street are an inseparable part of the experience.
Gostenhof is located west of Nuremberg's Old Town in the independent city of Nuremberg (Middle Franconia, State of Bavaria). The compact distances, good public transport connections via subway and tram, and the high density of pubs make the district the ideal backdrop for a festival that consciously opts for pub stages over large halls.
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Bierchen und Bühnchen enters its eighth round. From 4 PM until well past 9 PM, around 50 acts will perform in over 20 pubs, bars, and cultural venues in Nürnberg-Gostenhof. The opening traditionally features a program on the open-air main stage at Veit-Stoß-Platz, after which the audience disperses among the district's venues.
From 10 PM, the after-show parties will kick off in two clubs with their own programs. Admission to the festival is free; only the after-shows require an entrance fee.
Accompanying: audiovisual installation by artist Alicia Brunner in the Edel Extra gallery. The complete, up-to-date timetable will be published in the program booklet on the festival website.
Gostenhof is excellently connected to Nuremberg city center by subway (Line U1, stations Gostenhof or Bärenschanze) and tram. It's just a few minutes by subway from Nuremberg Central Station. Driving is strongly discouraged due to limited parking in the dense neighborhood.
Admission to the festival is free. There is a separate admission fee for the after-show parties in the clubs (e.g., MUZclub, Desi) (most recently around 12 Euros per location).
The daily program booklet with all bands, times, and venues is available as a PDF on the festival website and via the festival's Instagram channel.
