Festival at the Castle

Winsen (Luhe) is the district town of the Harburg district, located south of Hamburg on the Luhe river. Its historic center is characterized by preserved city architecture and the former ducal hunting lodge. The Winsen Castle now houses the district administration and is the centerpiece of an extensive castle park, which serves as the main event area during the city festival.

Five Festival Days

In 2026, the city festival runs from Wednesday, May 13th, to Sunday, May 17th, making it one of the longest city festivals in the region. Wednesday and Thursday have a quieter, more local character; starting Friday, the program transitions into the main weekend, attracting large crowds.

Multiple Stages

The festival is spread across several venues, each with its own profile:

• Rathausstraßenbühne: Main stage with headliners and major live performances
• Marienbühne: In the area of Marienkirche, quieter, more acoustic programs
• Harms Point: Cover bands and tribute acts
• Korny Castle: Castle grounds, tribute acts and danceable music

Family Program and Culinary Delights

Carousels and amusement rides are available primarily for younger visitors. A dedicated children's program with hands-on activities takes place at various locations. The food truck market offers a particularly wide culinary range: regional specialties, international cuisines, street food, vegetarian, and vegan options.
