Stadtfest Lahr — Four Stages, One City Center

The Stadtfest Lahr is one of the most vibrant city festivals in the Ortenau region. The venue is the historic city center of Lahr — Marktplatz, Schlossplatz, Rathausplatz, and the alleys around Stiftskirche and Stadtmuseum. For one day, the entire city center becomes a stage and festival mile. The organizers are the City of Lahr in cooperation with the Ortenaukreis, which has included the city festival in its tourism profile. Free admission.

Four Stages, Many Genres

The musical concept is "Music for every taste" — spread across four open-air stages that go live at 6 PM and play until midnight. Rathausplatz: regional rock bands. Haus Friedmann: Alemannic culture, Jazz, Soul. Schlossplatz: solo artists, Rock, Reggae. Urteilsplatz: cover acts, Irish Folk. Anyone strolling through the city center will hear different music from every direction — and can choose the stage that suits their mood.

Festival of Cultures at the Marktplatz

The Marktplatz becomes the Festival of Cultures: over 50 stalls offer food and drinks from all over the world — from Swabian classics to Vietnamese Pho soups, Turkish Mezze, Italian Pasta, Latin American Empanadas. Plus, its own cultural stage with a program from 4 PM to 8 PM — and from 9 PM, the musical highlight: El Flecha Negra, a band that fuses South American and Caribbean sounds into energetic live music.

Lahr and the Black Forest

Lahr/Schwarzwald is located at the western entrance to the Black Forest, at the transition from the Upper Rhine Plain to the Black Forest foothills. With around 47,000 inhabitants, Lahr is the largest city in the Ortenau district — a dynamic medium-sized center with industry (Chrysanthema-Stadt, Lahrer Hütte), a historic city center (Stiftskirche, Storchenturm, Rokokoschloss), and an active cultural scene. The city festival is one of the events where the city becomes aware of its multicultural population and its sociability.
