Stadtfest Gronau — September Highlight in the West Münsterland

The Stadtfest Gronau is the central city event of the Westphalian border town. From September 18 to 20, 2026, Neustraße and Gronau's city center will transform into a three-day festival mile with stages, market stalls, gastronomy, and programs for all generations. The organizer is Stadtmarketing/Touristinfo Gronau, which curates the event annually.

Three Days of Festival Atmosphere

The program runs from Friday evening to Sunday evening:

• Friday, Sep 18: Opening and first concert evening with regional live bands
• Saturday, Sep 19: Full market day with main stage program, street food, family activities
• Sunday, Sep 20: Shopping Sunday in Gronau's city center — shops open 1:00 PM–6:00 PM; evening program until sunset

Cover bands, singer-songwriters, and regional acts perform on the stages. The exact lineup will be announced by the city marketing department in the weeks leading up to the festival.

Gronau — City of Music on the Dutch Border

Gronau (approx. 48,000 inhabitants) is located in the far west of the Münsterland region, in the Borken district, directly on the Dutch border opposite Enschede. The city is known nationwide as the birthplace of Udo Lindenberg and home to the Rock’n’Popmuseum — live music is therefore part of its identity. The Stadtfest embraces this musical identity and combines it with the concept of the "shopping Sunday," which is common in Münsterland retail.

Proximity to the Netherlands and Cross-Border Audience

Due to its immediate border location with Enschede, the Stadtfest is also popular with Dutch visitors. Restaurants and shops benefit greatly from cross-border visitors, and the musical program is deliberately international (English and Dutch-speaking cover bands are regularly featured).
