Wine Meets Kiez
The St. Pauli Wine Festival is a distinctive Hamburg wine event: For four days, a wine open-air takes place right in the middle of Spielbudenplatz – between the Reeperbahn, Davidwache, and the theaters. The location is programmatic: wine, usually associated with rural growing regions and bourgeois life, meets Hamburg's liveliest district.
Seven Wineries
Seven wineries from various growing regions in Germany and Italy present their products on the festival grounds. Focus areas: Rheinhessen, Pfalz, Mosel, Nahe, and Friuli. This covers both classic German wines (Riesling, Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder) and Italian varieties (Refosco, Friulano, Pinot Grigio).
Gastronomy
The culinary offerings complement the wines: cheese specialties, fish and barbecue specialties, ice cream, Flammkuchen, burgers, and crêpes. A music program accompanies the event – typically DJs and small live acts, not a large-scale stage program.
Spielbudenplatz and St. Pauli
Spielbudenplatz is the central festival area on the Reeperbahn – Hamburg's most famous street in the St. Pauli district, Hamburg-Mitte borough. The area is managed by Spielbudenplatz Hamburg (City of Hamburg / Spielbudenplatz GmbH) – hosting other weekend events besides the Wine Festival, such as the Schlagermove Aftermove or a preview of the Hamburger DOM fair.
