Advent market of the St. Liborius parish with arts and crafts, mulled wine, and a contemplative atmosphere on the first weekend of Advent
The St. Liborius Christmas Magic has been organized by the Catholic parish of St. Liborius Bremervörde for many years and is a fixed date in the city's Advent calendar. On the first weekend of Advent, volunteers transform the area around the church and the parish hall at Neue Straße into a festive Advent world with fairy lights, Christmas trees, and lovingly designed stalls.
At the market, artisans from Bremervörde and the surrounding area offer handmade gifts: wood crafts, felt items, ceramics, jewelry, candles, natural cosmetics, and Christmas decorations. Beekeepers from the collective municipality sell honey and beeswax products, while jam and liqueur producers offer their regional specialties. Those looking for authentic, non-industrial gifts will find a carefully curated selection at the Christmas Magic.
The parish's volunteer helpers run several catering stalls. Homemade soups, bratwurst, potato pancakes, homemade cakes and cookies, mulled wine, children's punch, and hot chocolate are on the menu. The proceeds go to social projects of the parish, so every glass of mulled wine is also a small contribution to local aid efforts.
In addition to the classic market offerings, the Christmas Magic consciously emphasizes contemplative moments. Advent services, readings, concerts by the church choir, performances by school and kindergarten choirs, and a sing-along of Advent carols shape the program. In the evenings, the festive lighting of the church creates a special atmosphere.
The Christmas Magic is more than just a market – it is a social meeting point for the parish and the entire town. Families, seniors, neighbors, and club members meet on the parish grounds, pause briefly at the mulled wine stands, and exchange news. This social function makes the market an indispensable part of Bremervörde's Advent season.
The entire parish grounds will be transformed into a festive market landscape. Fairy lights, Christmas trees, and the illuminated church windows create the typical Advent atmosphere. Parish volunteers are responsible for organization and hospitality.
The market is not just a sales event, but also an act of solidarity: the proceeds from the parish stalls go to local aid projects and social initiatives.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the parish in the autumn. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
