Traditional parish festival in honor of the church patron St. Cyriakus in the Flomersheim district
The St. Cyriakus Festival Flomersheim is a typical form of Catholic-influenced patronal festival, as celebrated in many villages and suburbs in the Palatinate region. Saint Cyriakus of Rome, whose feast day is celebrated on August 8th, is the patron saint of the parish church in the Flomersheim district and gives the festival its name.
The event begins with a solemn festive service in the parish church, often concelebrated with clergy from surrounding parishes and accompanied musically by the church choir and organist. Afterwards, the congregation moves to the parish garden or the church square for the social part of the day.
The parish festival part is supported by the parish's associations and groups: Women's Association, Kolping, altar servers, church choir, kindergarten, and volunteers. Food is served, including bratwurst, steak, fries, coffee, and homemade cake. The proceeds traditionally go towards parish projects, such as church renovations, youth work, or charitable initiatives.
There is a small children's program with games, a bouncy castle, and craft activities. The male choir and occasionally the music association also contribute. The festival day also serves as an important community gathering for the parish.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the parish community in the parish newsletter and on Flomersheim.de. The structure will follow the proven key points of previous years.
