Whit Saturday with guided tours, handpan concerts, and art exhibition in the historic city center
The historic city center of Bad Kreuznach around the Old Nahe Bridges with the world-famous bridge houses is one of the city's architectural wonders. The bridge houses, standing directly on the pillars of the medieval bridge, are among the rare surviving examples of this type of construction in Europe. The surrounding quarter is called Klein-Venedig due to the narrow watercourses.
During the Spring Magic, places that are normally not publicly accessible will open. The Old Bridge Houses can be experienced as part of guided tours, and the historic Ice Cellar, where ice was stored for the summer months in pre-industrial times, is also open. The Roman Hall, the city's archaeological museum with finds from Bad Kreuznach's Roman past, is accessible for an entrance fee.
A musical highlight are the handpan concerts, which take place at various locations in the city center. The handpan, a relatively new steel-plate instrument with a meditative and sonorous character, fits perfectly with its spherical soundscape into the historic atmosphere of the old town. The concerts are free to attend and can be enjoyed during a stroll through the city center.
An art exhibition in the premises of the Förderverein complements the program. Local artists present their works, offering an opportunity for conversation and relaxation. Overall, the Spring Magic invites visitors to spend a whole Whit Saturday in the historic city center.
The 2026 Spring Magic continues the popular format of a one-day event with guided tours, music, and art in the historic city center. Whit Saturday offers the ideal date to discover the hidden treasures of the old town and spend a spring day in the special atmosphere around the bridge houses.
The detailed program for 2026, including tour times and musical contributions, will be published by the Förderverein Klein-Venedig in the spring.
