The Water Tower — Norf's Landmark

The Norf Water Tower is one of the most characteristic structures in the Neuss district of Norf. Built at the beginning of the 20th century as part of the municipal water supply, the tower still shapes the silhouette of the neighbourhood today. For years, the Norf Local Heritage Association (Heimatverein Norf e.V.) has organised the annual Spring Festival around this historic building — on May 9, 2026, it's that time again.

Programme on May 9, 2026

The Spring Festival runs on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The focus is on:

• Live Music on stage — mostly regional bands and solo artists
• Culinary Stands — barbecue specialities, cakes, coffee, drinks
• Social Atmosphere for neighbours and family
• Stands from local clubs and initiatives

The exact programme will be announced by the Local Heritage Association shortly before the event via posters and written notices.

Norf — District in Southern Neuss

Norf is located in the south of the city of Neuss (Rhein-Kreis Neuss district), between Neuss city centre and the border with Grevenbroich. Despite its proximity to the big city, the district has retained its rural character — with an active club structure, independent identity, and traditional citizenry. The Norf Local Heritage Association preserves local history, dialect, and customs.

Local Heritage Association as a District Driver

The Norf Local Heritage Association (Heimatverein Norf e.V.) is the organiser of the Spring Festival and many other events that help shape community life — from the shooting festivals (Schützenfest) of the Norf brotherhoods to dialect evenings and preservation activities for the water tower and other monuments. Such local heritage associations are an important pillar of district identity in the Rhineland, especially in medium-sized districts where municipal attention might otherwise be limited.
