Joint Choir Concert in the Johanniterkirche and in Rechlin
The Mirow and Rechlin church choirs both belong to the parish of the Mecklenburg Lake District. While the Mirow choir performs under Takahiro Yamauchi, Erika Kohl leads the choir in Rechlin. Both choirs come together for the spring concert and take the opportunity to present their repertoire and voices to each other – a classic format of Mecklenburg church music.
The Johanniterkirche on Mirow Castle Island is the former court church and burial place of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. With its baroque interior, historic organ, and unique location on Lake Mirow, it provides a particularly impressive acoustic space for choral music.
Spring concerts traditionally take up themes of renewal, awakening, and hope. The parish often programs a mix of sacred works (chorale settings, motets, smaller cantata movements) and secular choral pieces with a spring theme. The exact repertoire for 2026 will be announced soon.
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 11 a.m., a church service will follow in the Rechlin church, where both choirs will perform again. Rechlin is located on the Müritz, about 20 kilometers northwest of Mirow.
