Herbrechtingen's largest town festival with four stages, a parade, ecumenical service, and partner city Biatorbágy
The Town, Heritage, and Culture Festival is the summer highlight in Herbrechtingen's event calendar. Organized by the town of Herbrechtingen with its clubs, initiatives, and local businesses, the festival has taken place on the second weekend of July for over 30 years. What once began with a single stage and a small program has become a three-day town festival today with four stages, a rich cultural program, and thousands of visitors.
The center of Herbrechtingen — from Lange Straße to the school center area — becomes the festival grounds. Live bands, dance groups, music clubs, and solo artists alternate on four stages. Local clubs serve culinary specialties (from bratwurst and Schupfnudeln to international delicacies), a shuttle train connects the festival areas, and hands-on activities for children complete the program. The highlight is the traditional parade on Saturday.
A special feature is the decades-long connection with the Hungarian partner city Biatorbágy. A delegation from Hungary travels here every year and is part of the festival with its own stand offering Hungarian specialties. Sunday opens the festival with an ecumenical service — jointly held by the Protestant and Catholic congregations.
Herbrechtingen (Heidenheim district, AGS 08135, around 13,000 inhabitants) is located on the eastern Swabian Jura, southwest of Heidenheim an der Brenz. For centuries, the town was the site of an important monastery and a place of pilgrimage (library tradition since the 8th century). Today, Herbrechtingen is a self-confident small town with a vibrant club scene — the town festival is an expression of this civic vitality.
The Town, Heritage, and Culture Festival 2026 in Herbrechtingen follows the proven tradition: second weekend of July, city center from Lange Straße to the school center, four stages, catering by local clubs, delegation from the Hungarian partner city Biatorbágy. The program will, as always, be a mosaic of live music, dance, hands-on activities, parade, and a more solemn service.
The exact dates and detailed program will be announced by the town of Herbrechtingen via its website and the Heidenheimer Zeitung. The entire festival tradition is planned again for 2026 — from the opening on Saturday to the ecumenical service on Sunday and the parade through the city center.
