Sports Club Festival in the Sömmerda Region

The Sport- und Familienfest Großneuhausen is the central summer event of the community, organized by the local Sportverein (sports club). From Friday, June 12th to Sunday, June 14th, 2026, the Sportplatz (sports field) will transform into a three-day festival area. The festival brings the entire village—and visitors from neighboring communities—together to celebrate the sports club, volunteer work, and village life.

The festival focuses on a classic village family festival program:

Großneuhausen — Village in the Sömmerda District

The municipality of Großneuhausen (around 750 inhabitants) is located in the Sömmerda district in northern Thuringia, about 25 km northeast of Erfurt. A small, rural community in the Thuringian Basin—characterized by agriculture and the distinctive hilly landscape between Sömmerda and Apolda. The municipality belongs to the Kölleda administrative association. The Sport- und Familienfest is the village's main event and a meeting point for the residents and former Großneuhausen locals who return annually for the festival.
