Three Days of Punk in the Jerichow Countryside

With around 5,000 visitors annually, the Spirit Festival is not one of the biggest, but it is one of the most prominent festivals in the East German Punk, Ska, and Oi! scene. The venue: the festival grounds by the old open-air swimming pool in Loburg, a district of the town of Möckern in the Jerichower Land district (Saxony-Anhalt), approximately 40 kilometers east of Magdeburg. Since its premiere, the festival has grown within the DIY structures of a volunteer organization, characterized by a clear political stance: “LOVE MUSIC – HATE FASCISM" is displayed on every poster.

Lineup 2026 — The Cream of the Scene

The 2026 edition (August 20th-22nd) brings together more than 37 bands from Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and the USA. Headliners: Knorkator, Sondaschule, Swiss + Die Andern. Ska heavyweights: The Slackers (NYC), Dr. Ring Ding, Buster Shuffle. Punk classics: Discharge (UK), Ignite (USA), Total Chaos, The Casualties, Booze & Glory, Lion's Law. From Germany, among others: Oxo86, Rasta Knast, Die Skeptiker, Berliner Weisse, Mutabor. Psychobilly heroes Mad Sin are also on board, as are Italian anti-fascist skinheads Los Fastidios and Dutch street punks Evil Conduct. The weekend ticket sold out months before the festival.

Loburg — Small Village, Big Stage

Loburg belongs to the town of Möckern and has only about 2,000 inhabitants. The fact that an internationally booked punk festival has been taking place here for years is the result of local activists and the willingness of the town community to allow unusual cultural formats. According to Volksstimme, the 2026 festival plans “a major innovation" on the grounds – details will be communicated on-site.

Jerichower Land — Brandenburg-Saxony-Anhalt Border

The Jerichower Land in eastern Saxony-Anhalt (federal state), on the border with Brandenburg, is one of the less densely populated regions of the state – meadows, forests, smaller towns like Burg, Genthin, Möckern. Those who end up at the Spirit Festival experience a remarkable mix: East German province and urban subculture, rural tranquility and punk rock volume.
