Berlin's big winter funfair with mulled wine village and fairy tale figures in Spandau
In just a few years, the Spandauer Winterland has become one of Berlin's best-known winter funfairs. In the Spandau district, one of the capital's greenest and westernmost districts, the organizer uses the large former post office site directly opposite the Spandau Arcaden between Brunsbütteler Damm and Ruhlebener Straße. The location is exceptional: U7 Rathaus Spandau and S-Bahn station Spandau are just a two-minute walk away.
On the grounds, you'll find a colorful mix of Berlin funfair tradition and large modern rides: a Ferris wheel with a view of Spandau's old town, roller coasters for children and the brave, "Wellenflug" (wave flyer), dodgems, a haunted house, and classic carousels. Between the rides runs a fairy tale forest, where figures from Grimm's fairy tales welcome the youngest visitors.
In the middle of the grounds, the Glühweindorf (mulled wine village) sets up its wooden huts: mulled wine, punch, eggnog, along with bratwurst, potato pancakes, candied almonds, and Lángos. A small stage provides live music and atmosphere on some evenings – the Winterland is also a meeting point for Spandau families, clubs, and young people.
Unlike many classic Berlin Christmas markets, the Spandauer Winterland is primarily a funfair, not a craft market. Admission is free; individual rides and stalls are paid for directly on site. Those visiting the old town of Spandau with its classic Christmas market can combine both in one day – the old town flair and the winter funfair are barely more than 500 meters apart.
For the Spandauer Winterland 2026, the organizer traditionally announces the exact dates only in the autumn of 2026. The previous years serve as a basis for planning, during which the Winterland opened in mid-November and ended shortly before Christmas (in 2025, it ran from November 14th to December 23rd). In 2026, the former post office site at Brunsbütteler Damm / Ruhlebener Straße in 13597 Berlin-Spandau will again be used.
Confirmed by the official Berlin website are the character (funfair rather than a classic Christmas market), the location (opposite Spandau Arcaden), and free admission. Program elements such as spectacular rides, a Ferris wheel, a fairy tale forest, and a mulled wine village are expected to continue in 2026.
The complete program with opening hours and detailed schedule will be published in autumn 2026 on berlin.de. Announced or continued from previous years are:
Specific dates, times, and special offers (e.g., discounted family days) will be published with the 2026 program.
